Matt Flannery

Co-Founder and CEO, Kiva

Matt Flannery is co-founder and CEO of Kiva, a nonprofit organization that specializes in online microfinance. Flannery began developing Kiva in late 2004 as a side project while working as a computer programmer at TiVo, Inc. At the end of 2005, he left his job to devote himself to Kiva full time. As CEO, Flannery has led Kiva’s growth from a pilot project to an established online service with partnerships across the globe and millions in dollars loaned to low-income entrepreneurs. He was awarded a Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship and is a fellow of both the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation and Ashoka.
