Marius de Vos is an educator and consultant who works with children with special needs, physical and/or mental disabilities. Based in Amsterdam, his practice, in one-on-one educational play sessions in the child’s home, focuses on broad and specialist education in the linked areas of communication, spontaneous expression, and understanding. He specializes in working with infants and the very young, with children with communication-spectrum disorders, and with the profoundly and multiply physically and mentally disabled. His method is primarily founded on the work of Stanley Greenspan, a clinical professor of psychiatry, behavioral sciences, and pediatrics at George Washington University; and Serena Wieder of ZERO TO THREE. It is also informed by De Vos’s background in the theatre—particularly in improvisation and his belief in the centrality of play to humanity—and his Buddhist practice.
