Marguerite Kondracke is president and CEO of America’s Promise—The Alliance for Youth, an organization founded by Gen. Colin Powell in 1997 to make the interests of children and youth a national priority. Prior to joining America’s Promise, she served as special assistant to US Senator Lamar Alexander as well as staff director for the Senate Subcommittee on Children and Families. She served in the cabinet of Alexander, then Governor of Tennessee as commissioner of the Department of Human Services. She was co-founder and CEO (and is still a board member) of Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the nation’s largest provider of employer-sponsored child care. Kondracke also served as chair and currently serves as a board member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association.
