Documentary Filmmaker; Director, The Great Invisible

Margaret Brown is a documentary filmmaker. Her film The Great Invisible, about the BP oil spill and America’s relationship to oil, premiered at the 2014 SXSW Film Festival, where it won the Documentary Competition’s Grand Jury Prize. Her film The Order of Myths won the Truer Than Fiction Award at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards, along with a nomination for Best Documentary and the 2010 Peabody Award. Brown’s first feature documentary is Be Here to Love Me. She is the recipient of a 2012 United States Artists Fellowship and was a US cultural ambassador to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Colombia.
