Reverend, Social Activist
Marcia Dyson is a reverend and noted civic-social activist who has carried out a ministry of healing to wounded women, neglected children, and suffering men throughout America and around the globe. Additionally, Dyson is a political strategist, social entrepreneur, and lecturer. She is a member of many women’s organizations including the Black Women’s Round Table, National Council of Negro Women, and Face to Face, a four-woman panel which addresses cultural differences among women, diplomacy, and social justice for women. Dyson is devoted to the rebuilding effort in Haiti, and is a former consultant to the Clinton Foundation on behalf of the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission. Dyson has volunteered for many NGOs including Partners in Health and Partners in Education. She is a member of WE ADVANCE, a collective of women’s groups in Haiti whose goals are economic development, quality health care, and political empowerment for women.
