Kurt Newman is president and CEO of Children’s National Health System, a top-ranked pediatric hospital and a leader in NIH research funding. He has been a surgeon at Children’s National for over 30 years, and in his previous role as chief of surgery, he led the creation of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. A professor of surgery and pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Newman has authored numerous scientific publications, as well as book on the significance of pediatric medicine entitled Healing Children, A Surgeon’s Stories from the Frontiers of Pediatric Medicine, published in June 2017.
