Kimberly Dowdell is a principal and the director of strategic relationships for global design firm, HOK. Dowdell is an award-winning architect and frequent speaker on the topic of architecture, leadership, diversity, sustainability, health disparities, and the future of cities. As national president of the National Organization of Minority Architects she increased opportunities for women and people of color to gain greater access to the building professions, while more than doubling the membership. In 2024, she will serve as the 100th national president of the American Institute of Architects. Initially driven to utilize architecture as a tool to revitalize cities and foster public wellbeing, her professional experience has spanned architecture to government and teaching to real estate development. She co-founded the SEED Network in 2005 and has been a LEED-accredited professional since 2007.
