Author, A History of God, Holy War, and Fields of Blood
Karen Armstrong is the author of numerous books on religious affairs, including A History of God; Holy War; Islam: A Short History; The Bible: the Biography; and most recently Fields of Blood. She has written two memoirs, addressed members of the US Congress and Council on Foreign Relations, lectured to policy makers at the US State and Defense departments, and participated in the World Economic Forum. Armstrong is an ambassador for the UN Alliance of Civilizations and speaks regularly in Muslim countries. Her many awards include the TED Prize for her vision for a Charter for Compassion and the British Academy’s inaugural Nayef Al-Rodhan Prize for improving transcultural understanding.
