Julie Brill is commissioner of the US Federal Trade Commission. Appointed by President Obama and serving a term through September 2016, Brill’s role involves being one of the nation’s leading advocates for protecting consumer privacy in an era of rapid technological change as well as working on the full spectrum of issues affecting consumers. Before her appointment, Brill enforced consumer protection and competition laws in Vermont and North Carolina for over 20 years. She has received numerous national awards, has testified before Congress, and speaks and writes frequently about privacy, consumer protection, and competition issues.
