Josephine Briggs

Josephine Briggs is director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. She has also directed the Division of Clinical Innovation and the Division of Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Diseases at NIH. Briggs was previously senior scientific officer at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, professor of internal medicine and physiology at the University of Michigan, and a research scientist at the University of Munich’s Physiology Institute. She is a recipient of the Volhard Prize of the German Nephrological Society, the Alexander von Humboldt Scientific Exchange Award, and three NIH Director’s Awards.
