Jerry Coyne is a professor at the University of Chicago Department of Ecology and Evolution. His work involves the genetics of species differences, aimed at understanding the evolutionary processes. Coyne is co-author of Speciation, author of Why Evolution is True and Faith vs. Fact: Why Science and Religion Are Incompatible, and has written 115 scientific papers. He is a contributor The New York Times, The New Republic, The Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, The Nation, USA Today, and other periodicals. He is an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a recipient of the 2015 Richard Dawkins Award from the American Alliance of America.
