Jason Van Genderen is an award-winning filmmaker, known as the “filmbreaker,” and one of the world’s leading pocket filmmakers. In 2008, he made a short film, Mankind Is No Island, on a mobile phone at a cost of $57; it won over $35,000 in prizes globally. His work has been presented at Tropfest NY, Aspen Shortsfest, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, and Sundance London. Largely documentary based, his short mobile films have also found homes in the Australian National Film and Sound Archive and the Smithsonian Institute. In 2015, Van Genderen established the Pocket Film Academy. He has numerous directing, producing, cinematography, screenwriting, and editing credits.
