Chef and Partner, Five & Ten; Author, A New Turn in the South
Hugh Acheson is chef-owner of four restaurants in Georgia, including “5 & 10” and “The National” in Athens; “Empire State South” in Atlanta; and “The Florence” in Savannah. His cookbook A New Turn in the South: Southern Flavors Reinvented for Your Kitchen won the James Beard Foundation 2012 award for Best Cookbook in American Cooking. He also wrote Pick a PICKLE: 50 Recipes for Pickles, Relishes, and Fermented Snacks. His third cookbook, The Broad Fork: Recipes for the Wide World of Vegetables and Fruit, was released this spring. Food & Wine named him Best New Chef in 2002 and the James Beard Foundation awarded him Best Chef Southeast in 2012.
