Shamma Bint Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan is president and CEO of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerator, driving the nation’s commitment to net zero by 2050. She is also the founder of the Shamma bint Sultan Sustainability Initiatives and of Reset MENA, and co-founder of Aurora50. A columnist for The National newspaper, Al Nahyan has presented academic papers at global conferences and in 2019 spoke at the World Economic Forum in Jordan. She chairs Alliances for Global Sustainability and the advisory boards of Yale’s Center for Environmental Law and Policy, Pure Harvest, and Bamboo Capital. Al Nahyan’s honors include being named the 2020 Inspirational Woman of the Year by Arab Women’s Awards UAE and the 2021 Windtower award by Academy of International Business in the Middle East and North Africa. In 2022, she became the first woman from the Gulf Cooperation Council to participate in the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center’s Women Leaders in Energy and Climate Fellowship.
