Senior Policy Advisor, US Department of Homeland Security

Haris Tarin is a senior policy advisor at the US Department of Homeland Security, advising senior leadership on immigration, civil rights, and civil liberties and counterterrorism. Previously, he was the director of the Washington, DC, office of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). An Ariane de Rothschild Cambridge Fellow and USC/Georgetown AMCLI Fellow, Tarin is the author of An Introduction to Muslim America and co-author of Rethinking the Red Line: Free Speech, Religious Freedom and Social Change. He is a regular on news television programs on CNN, BBC, Fox News, and MSNBC, and writes regularly for publications such as The Washington Post, LA Times, Christian Science Monitor, and Al Jazeera.
