H. Gilbert Welch is a professor of medicine, public policy, and business administration at Dartmouth College and a general internist at the White River Junction VA. Much of his work has focused on overdiagnosis in cancer screening. Welch is the author of Less Medicine, More Health; Should I Be Tested for Cancer? Maybe Not and Here’s Why; and co-author of Overdiagnosed: Making People Sick in the Pursuit of Health. His work has been published in op-eds in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, the Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
