Founder and President, Americans for Tax Reform

Grover Norquist is president of Americans for Tax Reform, a taxpayer advocacy group founded in 1985 at the request of President Ronald Reagan. Americans for Tax Reform works to limit the size and cost of government and opposes higher taxes at the federal, state, and local levels. Norquist created the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which asks all candidates for federal and state office to commit themselves in writing to oppose all tax increases. It was signed by 219 House members and 49 senators in the 114th Congress. Norquist co-authored the Contract with America with Newt Gingrich in 1994. He also chairs the Wednesday Meeting, a weekly gathering of elected officials.
