Gene Falk

Co-Founder and President, mothers2mothers

Gene Falk is co-founder and president of mothers2mothers, an NGO based in Cape Town, South Africa that helps to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. During his time at mothers2mothers, the organization has grown from a handful of sites in South Africa to over 700 sites in nine countries that enrolled 275,000 HIV-positive pregnant women and new mothers in 2010. In recognition of its work, m2m has received awards for social entrepreneurship from the Skoll and Schwab foundations and a Best Practices Award from the Global Health Council. Previously, Falk was a senior executive in the media industry, working at major television companies including Showtime Networks and HBO, and was involved in HIV/AIDS activism with organizations including the Michael Palm Foundation, Treatment Action Group, and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
