Deborah Rhode

Ernest W. McFarland Professor of Law and Director, Center on the Legal Profession, Stanford Law School

Deborah Rhode is the Ernest W. McFarland Professor of Law and director of the Center on the Legal Profession at Stanford University. She was counsel to the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee during impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton and clerked for Thurgood Marshall on the Supreme Court before joining the Stanford Law faculty. The author of 30 books on professional responsibility, leadership, and gender, law, and public policy, Rhode is founding president of the International Association of Legal Ethics and former president of the Association of American Law Schools, among others. She is the recipient of numerous awards for scholarship and public interest work.
