is the president and founder of The Posse Foundation, a youth leadership-development and college-access organization that sends teams (posses) of students from diverse backgrounds to selective colleges and universities. Since 1989, 3,110 Posse Scholars have won $329 million in leadership scholarships from partner colleges and universities, are graduating at a rate of 90 percent, and are active leaders on their campuses and now in the workforce. Bial’s extensive experience in facilitating dialogue about diversity and in guiding colleges toward improved admissions policies has gained her national recognition. In 2007, Bial received a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
