David Rubenstein

Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman, The Carlyle Group

David Rubenstein is co-executive chairman of The Carlyle Group, the private equity firm he co-founded in 1987. He previously practiced law, was a domestic policy advisor to President Carter, and was chief counsel to a Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee. Rubenstein’s extensive service includes: chairman of the boards of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Smithsonian Institution, and Council on Foreign Relations; a fellow of the Harvard Corporation; trustee of the Brookings Institution, National Gallery of Art, University of Chicago, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and the Institute for Advanced Study; and president of the Economic Club of Washington.
