David Leonhardt

Op-Ed Columnist, The New York Times

David Leonhardt is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times. His previous roles at the Times include leading a strategic group helping leadership plan the paper’s future, Washington bureau chief, staff writer for The Times Magazine, and founding editor of The Upshot, a website covering politics and policy. He has also worked for Business Week and The Washington Post. In 2011, Leonhardt won a Pulitzer Prize for his columns on the financial crisis and its aftermath. He authored the best-selling e-book, Here’s the Deal: How Washington Can Solve the Deficit and Spur Growth. Since 2011, he has served on the jury for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
