Dan Buettner is an explorer, educator, and author. Currently a National Geographic fellow, he has discovered, through multiple expeditions with scientists specializing in population studies, the five places in the world – dubbed Blue Zones – where people live the longest and are healthiest and happiest. His company, Blue Zones LLC, puts best practices of longevity and well-being to work in people’s lives. Buettner works in partnership with Healthways, municipal governments, and insurance companies to implement the program in more than 20 cities so far. He has written numerous articles and books, including the New York Times best-seller The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest.
