Clay Johnston

Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean, Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin

Clay Johnston is the inaugural dean of Dell Medical School and vice president for medical affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. He is also a neurologist specializing in stroke care and research. Johnston was formerly associate vice chancellor of research, director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and founding director of the Center for Healthcare Value at University of California, San Francisco. In his 20 years at UCSF, he was also a neurology and epidemiology professor and directed the Stroke Service. Johnston has authored more than 300 publications in scientific journals and has led several studies of cerebrovascular disease and three multicenter randomized trials.
