Columnist, The New York Times
Charles M. Blow is a New York Times op-ed columnist, a position he has held since 2008. He writes often on politics, social justice and public opinion. Blow joined The New York Times in 1994 as a graphics editor and quickly became the paper’s graphics director, a position he held for nine years. He then became the paper’s design director for news before leaving in 2006 to become art director of National Geographic magazine. Before joining the Times, he was a graphic artist at The Detroit News. Blow is also the author of the New York Times best-selling memoir Fire Shut Up in My Bones.
