Filmmaker, Griot's Eye

Babatunde E. Salaam is an award-winning filmmaker and Peace First Fellow. He has produced more than 15 short documentary films on issues dealing with youth entrepreneurship, education and the prison industrial complex. In 2010, he and Megan Sherman, along with other colleagues at New Lens Productions, trained the majority of Baltimore’s police officers with a highly effective youth sensitivity model. New Lens, where Salaam made most of his films, is a youth-led community arts group dedicated to social change in Baltimore. He currently works as a filmmaker with Griot’s Eye, a Baltimore-based graphics and visualization firm. He was an AmeriCorps volunteer and has attended Baltimore City Community College.
