Arieyanna Williams

Student, Chicago Strong

Arieyanna Williams is a member of Peace Warriors, a student nonviolence group in Chicago, and a recent graduate of North Lawndale College Prep. She has been affected by violence all of her life, growing up around gang members and losing people close to her family from a young age. Three of Williams’s uncles were shot (two died), and her father died due to gang-related gun violence when she was eight years old. Her father’s death fueled her anger towards guns and has led her to be active in the movement for finding solutions to gun violence. Williams, who feels as though society turns a blind eye whenever just “another black person” is shot in Chicago,  We’ve been using our voices and walking out of schools, and now it’s time to walk in to start voting.
