is a senior fellow at the Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University. From 1994 to 2005, Ã…slund worked at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as a senior associate and as director of the Russian and Eurasian Program. He also worked at the Brookings Institution and the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies. Ã…slund has served as an economic advisor to the governments of Russia, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan. He is a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and chairman of the Advisory Council of the Center for Social and Economic Research, Warsaw. Ã…slund is the author of nine books, including How Ukraine Became a Market Economy and Democracy (Peterson Institute, 2009).
