Fred Krupp

President, Environmental Defense Fund

Fred Krupp is president of Environmental Defense Fund, a position he has held for three decades. In 2011, as a member of the energy secretary's advisory panel for shale gas production, he was a powerful voice for strong regulation of natural gas development to protect local communities from air, water, and climate pollution. Among EDF's achievements during his tenure is the market-based acid rain policy that has reduced average US air concentrations of sulfur dioxide by 76 percent since 1990. Krupp co-authored the best-seller Earth: The Sequel -- The Race to Reinvent Energy and Stop Global Warming. He was named one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report.
