Youth, Sex, and Limits

A general relaxation of sexual morals has run headlong into a decades-old push to protect children and teens—not only from predators, but from themselves. The results are sometimes confusing. We have passed a raft of sex offender laws to protect children, but then we use the laws to put thousands of kids on the lists, too. We raised the ages for consent to sex, but the definition remains as confused as ever. We also have decriminalized gay sex, but still permit parents to put their kids through gay "cures." Add the Internet into the mix and the issues get even more complex. Where do we go from here?
