Religion and Politics

Is America a secular country or a religious one? Should faith and religious values have a place in current political campaigns and debates? From abortion and gay marriage to immigration and science policy, most current hot-button political debates have strong religious elements. Do issues of faith and religious values belong in our political dialogue? Do religious Americans have undue influence on public policy and elections, or does the current climate marginalize the faithful? Experts from the Worlds of politics and faith, Peter Beinart, The Rev. Peter J. Gomes, Pastor Ted Haggard, Dr. Richard Land and Jim Wallis weigh in with moderator Nancy Gibbs.
