Chimerica

Niall Ferguson and James Fallows discuss the influence of China on the U.S. economy with moderator Scott Stossel. "Chimerica" is the word coined by economic historian Niall Ferguson to describe the symbiotic relationship between China and America that has evolved since the 1970s and which since the late 1990s has been the key to the global economy. But now as a result of the global financial crisis, is this marriage between the saver and the spender - the exporter and the importer - the borrower and the lender - on the rocks?
