The Genius of Animals

For centuries, humans’ concept of animal intelligence has been obscured in a cloud of false assumptions and egotism. Animals have worked for us. Animals have fed us. Some have even entertained us. But science is now showing that the animalian mind is much more complex than we may fully appreciate. From the crow that bends a wire into a hook to retrieve food from a long-necked bottle to the ants and bees that create complex social systems to maximize their efficiency, animals work and live in incredible ways. Through closer examination, we can uncover some of the truly remarkable ways that the animal kingdom communicates, cooperates, and innovates. What can we learn about ourselves by digging deeper into the behavior of the pets, pests, and predators of the world?
