Why is the United States afflicted by more pronounced violence—such as mass shootings, conflicts between police and citizens, sexual assault on college campuses, and urban gun violence—than many other industrialized countries? Does it happen despite our culture or, somehow, because of it? This track will probe the causes, effects, and ways to address violence in the United States through the lenses of economics, sociology, policy, and media.
