From Lean In and Pantsuit Nation, to the angst of “angry white men,” gender is parked firmly at the center of the national conversation. Amidst the rapid political, technological, and cultural changes of the 21st Century, the way we view sex and gender is consequently changing as well. Our #metoo moment demands a reckoning about gender, power, and the structures that have dominated until now. What is manhood, and is it under attack? From domestic role reversals at home, to changing expectations in the classroom, to power shifts in the workplace and beyond, how are we still teaching and reinforcing notions of masculinity and femininity? Can we stop politicizing and start understanding new conceptions of gender identity? Is true gender equality within our grasp? If so, what must we do and undo to reach it?
