Teresita Fernández

Teresita Fernández is an artist best known for her prominent public sculptures and unconventional use of materials. Her work is characterized by an interest in perception and the psychology of looking. Fernández’s public art projects include Fata Morgana in New York’s Madison Square Park, Blind Blue Landscape in Naoshima, Japan, and Seattle Cloud Cover at Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park. Her works are included in many collections and have been exhibited at MOMA in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and others. A 2005 MacArthur Foundation fellow, Fernández became the first Latina to serve on the US Commission of Fine Arts when appointed by President Obama in 2011.
