Steven Brill is a journalist and entrepreneur. He founded the cable network Court TV (now truTV) and the monthly law magazine The American Lawyer. A law school graduate, he has written for The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, and TIME magazine. Brill’s special report in TIME on medical costs, Bitter Pill: Why Medical Bills Are Killing Us, won the 2014 National Magazine Award. He expanded the piece into a book, America’s Bitter Pill: Money, Politics, Backroom Deals, and the Fight to Fix Our Broken Healthcare System, which became an instant best-seller when it was published in January 2015.
