Sean Hofherr is director of the biochemical genetics and molecular diagnostics laboratories at Children’s National Health System. Board-certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics, he pioneered the concept of a personalized sequencing panel, which allows genetic testing to be customized for each patient and applies DNA sequencing technology to pinpoint the genetic causes of rare diseases in children. Prior to joining Children’s National in 2012, he held a fellowship in clinical biochemical and molecular genetics with the Mayo Clinic. Hofherr is an assistant professor of pediatrics and pathology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. (Festival Underwriter Presenter)
