Robert D. Kaplan is chief geopolitical analyst for Stratfor and a foreign correspondent for The Atlantic for nearly three decades. His 15 books on foreign affairs and travel include Asia’s Cauldron, The Revenge of Geography, Monsoon, Balkan Ghosts, and Warrior Politics. Kaplan has served on the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board, has been a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security since 2008, and was the Class of 1960 Distinguished Visiting Professor at the US Naval Academy from 2006 to 2008. In 2011 and 2012, Foreign Policy magazine named him one of its Top 100 Global Thinkers.
