Richard Massey

Astronomer, Royal Observatory Edinburgh

Richard Massey is an astronomer at the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh. He maps dark matter throughout the universe. Recently, he has studied how dark matter behaves during collisions between groups of galaxies and studies their ingredients by tracking the debris. He uses the Hubble Space Telescope and is building a new telescope, which will hang under a balloon at 90,000 feet, toward the edge of space. Massey has published over 100 scientific articles and has worked at Cambridge University and the California Institute of Technology.
