Philip Zelikow

White Burkett Miller Professor of History, Dean of Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Virginia

Philip Zelikow is the White Burkett Miller Professor of History at the University of Virginia, dean of its Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and a consultant to the office of the Secretary of Defense. Zelikow was counselor to the US State Department from 2005 to 2007, director of the 9/11 Commission from 2003 to 2004, and served on the National Security Council under President George H.W. Bush. He has taught at Harvard University and for the US Navy. Zelikow served on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board under George W. Bush (2001-2003) and Barack Obama (2011-2013).
