Lowy Distinguished Fellow, US-Middle East Diplomacy, Council on Foreign Relations

Martin Indyk is the Lowy Distinguished Fellow in US-Middle East Diplomacy at the Council on Foreign Relations. Previously, he was the executive vice president of the Brookings Institution. Prior to this, Indyk was President Obama’s special envoy for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations at the US State Department. Earlier in his career, he was special assistant to President Clinton and senior director for Near East and South Asian affairs at the National Security Council, and assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs. Before that, Indyk was the founding executive director of The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. The author of Innocent Abroad and Bending History, his latest book is Master of the Game: Henry Kissinger and the Art of Middle East Diplomacy.
