Jonah Edelman is co-founder and CEO of Stand for Children, the nation’s most influential political voice for students. Stand for Children exists to ensure all students graduate prepared for a productive adulthood. Stand was a catalyst in 2010 in the passage of key laws to improve public education in six states (Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Washington). In 2011, Stand is ensuring the effective implementation of the 2010 breakthroughs and is playing a primary role in the passage of major legislation to improve schools in Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. In 1996, Edelman helped organized Stand for Children's historic founding rally in Washington, which was attended by more than 300,000 people. Edelman was recently recognized on Time.com as one of the nation’s top eleven education activists for 2011.
