Jared Bernstein is a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. He recently served as chief economist to Vice President Biden, executive director of the White House Task Force on the Middle Class, and as a member of President Obama’s economics team. The focus of his career has been on the intersection of economic growth, economic policy, and equity. Most recently, he has concentrated on issues of fiscal policy, deficits, debt, and the size and role of government—critical issues that he believes are poorly understood. He is an on-air commentator for MSNBC and CNBC and regularly posts on his eponymous blog. Bernstein is the author of Crunch: Why Do I Feel So Squeezed?
