James Bennet

James Bennet is editor of The Atlantic, the general interest magazine created in 1857 to advance what its founders called the American Idea. He was named editor in 2006. During Bennet’s tenure, The Atlantic has experienced a dazzling resurgence, increasing its editorial reach and impact while achieving profitability for the first time in recent history. Under Bennet, The Atlantic’s Web presence has grown from 500,000 unique visitors monthly to more than ten million, and its print and digital work has won numerous awards.
