NPR is presenting a special show during Aspen Ideas!

You’ve heard them on the air, now come see them in person. Three NPR science correspondents bring their reporting chops and theatrical skills to a multimedia show you won’t want to miss.

“A Fish Tale” is an unusual exploration of the science behind deception. It provides a tour of the latest neuroscience and psychology, while also ushering in a brand new approach to sciencejournalism — where three reporters offer different “Rashomon” takes on the same story.

The central story the reporters set out to explore is a lie told by two boys in Milwaukee. Using this charming story as a door into the puzzle of lying, reporters Jon Hamilton, Alix Spiegel, and Shankar Vedantam drag in evidence from evolution, brain science, psychology and sociology, and explore different perspectives by bringing in other stories of deceivers and the deceived, the voices of scientists, photographs, videos and animations.  It is a extravaganza of material about what causes us to lie, and it will change the way you think about lies. And truth. And NPR.
